Seventeen Million to One Achievement

 

On Sunday 7th August 2011 Paul Harris, the 2011 Captain and Phil Smith our Professional were playing a regular 'Captain and Pro' match against Phil and Karen Richardson. Paul and Phil have proved a very difficult team to beat this year so far but things were not going all their way on this occasion. Arriving at the sixth Paul and Phil were one down. Paul was the first of their pairing to address the ball. He says he struck a good 5 Iron and caned it into the hole from about 173 yards for the second ace of his golfing career. After the excitement, high fives and handshakes all was calm for Phil to address his ball. Using a 6 Iron Phil also holed out for his 13th career ace. Someone has worked out that the odds on this happening is 17,000,000:1. (This was thought to be a bit unfair until it was pointed out that the odds were for the double ace not just Phil's!).

This showboating didn't do Paul and Phil a lot of good as they still lost 3 and 2 to Karen and Phil
