The junior section at Hillingdon
Golf Club is not plentiful in number but makes up for it in spirit!
We have long had a tradition of producing very talented young
golfers who are widely recognised as being excellent ambassadors
of the club.
Many members may not be aware of their participation in many of
golf’s top junior tournaments with varying degrees of success.
We have 3 boys in the present Middlesex squads with further 4
training with county at their age groups.
We play league matches against other Middlesex golf clubs and
hope they enjoy our hospitable and friendly atmosphere as we do
theirs.. We try to give all the boys a chance no matter what handicap
they are and feel this method helps all the players to feel a
part of the section.
We meet up every Sunday afternoon at 1.30pm (matches permitting)
so beware of 300 yard drives if you fancy going for a quiet Sunday
stroll. This years matches are as follows:
11 April 2010 - home to Ruislip
18 April 2010 - home to Ealing
2 May 2010 - away to Pinner
23 May 2010 - away to Stanmore
6 June 2010 - away to Ealing
13 June 2010 - home to Stanmore
4 July 2010 - home to Pinner
18 July 2010 - away to Ruislip
Like most clubs around the country juniors are very competitive
when it comes to club competitions. This year was no exception
with juniors excelling in our own club championship with Lee Lewington
winning and Michael O’Connor (playing off scratch) a close
second.
This year there we have welcomed new faces joining the junior
ranks and some old ones re-joining! We always welcome new junior
members, as they hopefully will be the future of the club.
We must thank Phil Smith, the General Manager and Professional,
for his encouragement of these young players and coaching them
in the right direction.
